How it all started

Have you ever thought, “I wish I would have learned that in school?”

Things like how to build credit, file taxes, create a budget, prepare for an interview, or network effectively. These are essential life skills that are often missing from traditional education. That is where The Difference comes in.

My name is Joe Rushka, and I started The Difference because I experienced that gap myself. After graduating from college in 2015, I realized I was not fully prepared for life after school. I struggled to understand how to manage responsibilities, make informed decisions, and plan for a successful future. It took me years of trial and error to learn what I needed to know.

Now, ten years later, my goal is to help students bridge that gap sooner. I want to give young adults the support and knowledge they need to move forward with clarity and confidence.

With a master's degree in secondary education and experience teaching economics and mentoring students, I have seen how powerful real world preparation can be. I created The Difference to offer life coaching for high school and college students that focuses on practical skills, personal development, and future readiness.

When students are prepared and supported, they make better decisions, feel more confident, and take ownership of their lives. That is what makes the difference.
